MISSION STATEMENT: Sing-Out is about kids helping kids. Sing-Out is a musical extravaganza mixing comedic charm with song and dance. An organization devoted to giving back to the community, the cast is comprised of local high school students and is produced entirely by volunteers. Getting it’s start in the late 1960s, a musical revue, not unlike the “Up With People” production that had flooded the country, Sing-Out was tailored to entertain as well as celebrate the feelings that the country shared. The productions disappeared after only six years, but the memories remained with many cast members. In remembrance of a good friend and cast member, those recollections of fun and excitement, inspired the first cast call in December of 1989. Together, revived with a twist of their own, Lisa Romach and Casey Filiaci saw the first production become a reality in 1990, In 1997, the Sing-Out Company, Incorporated, was established. Having three executive board members and a bank of talented volunteers, both adults and young adults, has insured the tradition and longevity of Sing-Out in the community. Sing-Out has acquired professional artists and volunteers to make all aspects of the show shine with professionalism. The dedication of these adults, as well as, over 100 hours of rehearsal time put in by the high school students, makes Sing-Out unique in it’s own right. It is a force in the community that shares a reputation of both professionalism and pure entertainment. Performance proceeds are donated to charitable organizations of the cast’s choice, with a charity decided on each year. As dictated in the bylaws, all profits are donated to charities with their focus on children. The cast and crew work endlessly to perform a show guaranteed to delight and entertain. We have received two grants from the state for a total of $10,000. This was used for insurance and storage rental. This money ran out in 2005 Permanent funding comes from advertisers in our program and ticket sales. Occasionally we receive a private donation. After show expenses, the remaining monies are donated to the charity the students have chosen. Our motto is “It’s Gotta Be Fun” and fun is what we are about. With the exceptional cast and crew of young teens working for a common goal we have shown that children truly are our future. With regard to their accomplishments both on stage and behind the curtain, they are a positive force that is displayed in the community Sing-Out is about kids helping kids. |
